#1 Always start with GREAT beans! Recaffeinator beans are great.
#2 The sourcing of the beans. For instance we buy single source or special blend beans from the best growers who are either fair trade certified, or we verify the growers and distribution channels used are sourcing responsibly.
#3 The roasting! We are a small, independent, and professionally trained artisan roastery. We are really great at what we do so you always get quality and delicious beans from Recaffeinator.
#4 The coffee grinder! Being able to adjust your grind size, and get a consistent grind are really important to getting the best extraction of flavors you can from your quality roasted, carefully sourced beans. So them right and use a really good burr grinder. You will never use one of those $15 blade grinders again. Use your old blade grinder into a spice grinder and get a proper coffee grinder.
#5 Using the right grind size for the method of extraction. Espresso grind doesn’t work well in a pour over or drip process, just like a grind for drip will not give you what you expect for an espresso. Always grind the beans according to what coffee brewing process you are using.
#6 The coffee brewing, aka the coffee extraction process. (note this is last, because pulling water through beans can be done in many ways and if any of the previous items are wrong then you won’t get the best out of your coffee. Full stop!)
Are there other steps and ways to improve your cup of coffee, YOU BET! What water you use, how long you steep, water temperature, puck prep, and on and on and on are all important. But these 6 items listed above are really going to have the greatest impact on the quality of your extraction of water through beans. If you feel inspired to send us your opinions or techniques, then visit our Contact page and send a message. But that said, we are not really trying to get followers or get rich roasting and selling our coffee. We are just coffee junkies like you. So make a pot, a cup, sit back and enjoy. Bon jiorno!
